Learn about the role of nutrition communication in the prevention and management of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Find out how to identify diet-related health risk, barriers to change, and how to start healthy conversations to assist others in achieving nutrition related health goals.

East Metropolitan Health Service (EMHS) worked with the University of Newcastle to develop two, three-week massive open online courses (MOOC) for health professionals. For more information on the workforce research underpinning the MOOCs, read the project’s Executive Summary.

The MOOCs focus on nutrition communication skills when talking to adults. The training is appropriate for any health professional who wants to improve their knowledge and communication skills related to nutrition. And increase their confidence in having non-stigmatising and supportive conversations with people about their weight.

Health professionals who work for EMHS can access this training through their Learning Management System (LMS).
